WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The man accused of tailgating a vehicle along US 51 and then shooting at the family inside it has been bound over for trial.
Bennie Green was in a Marathon County courtroom on Monday, appearing without an attorney. Court officials found probable cause and moved the case forward.
The 41-year-old then requested a speedy trial, which was not addressed on the record.
Green is accused of tailgating another vehicle as the two were driving north on US 51 in early October. According to the victim Green had been slowing down and speeding up, allowing their vehicle to pass and then tailgating. Green is then accused of driving alongside the victims and shooting twice into their vehicle.
One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Green then led authorities on a chase that extended back into the Wausau area where he was finally arrested after a Lincoln County deputy disabled his vehicle.
