WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A Weston man accused of repeatedly assaulting at least one young girl at a daycare has pleaded no contest to several felonies.
Judge Michael Moran accepted a plea of no contest from Shawn Wilde and subsequentially found him guilty of six felony counts. He faced a total of 22 felonies; the remainder were read into the record but ultimately dropped as part of a plea deal.
Wilde allegedly lived in the basement of a home daycare center in Weston where the assault happened. That’s where a 10-year-old girl told her parents that Wilde touched her during a game he created. Subsequent investigations discovered that the “game” involved covering the victim with a blanket and then touching them in front of a camera.
The case was scheduled to go to trial next week. He’s due to be sentenced January 3rd.
Editors Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly states that Wilde had pled guilty to some of the counts. The correct plea was no contest.
