MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Sophomore AJ Storr scored 17 points to lead the Badgers in an 80-70 loss to Tennessee on Friday at the Kohl Center.
Steven Crowl just missed on a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Chucky Hepburn added 13 points.
The Badgers got just eight points from their bench with Connor Essegian accounting for half of those. He added three assists and three rebounds as well.
Wisconsin went more than four minutes without a field goal midway through the second half. Tennessee managed to pull away during that stretch, and Wisconsin would never recover.
Tennessee shot 50% from the field to 41% for the Badgers. Dalton Knecht led the Volunteers with 24 points.
The win marked Tennssee’s first regular-season road victory over a current member of the Big Ten Conference. The Vols do own a road win over Rutgers, but that came before they joined the league.
The Badgers fall to 1-1 on the season and will head east to Providence to take on the Friars next Tuesday as part of the Gavitt Tip-Off Games between the Big Ten and Big East. Pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 4 PM with tip-off at 5:00.
