The much-discussed, much-debated plan to consolidate the Wausau School District’s two high schools and close a handful of elementary schools is going to get another look on Monday.
Board Member Pat McKee will present his peers with a plan that would allow both East and West High Schools to remain separate while calling on the district to work towards providing equal course offerings at both schools.
Other aspects of McKee’s proposal include a pause on the joint daycare/childcare facility with the Wausau YMCA and revisiting the plan if the district does end up with some extra facilities. There would also be a discussion about closing the Longfellow Administration Building and moving Admin offices to existing spaces in underutilized district facilities.
The McKee plan would also call off the district’s efforts to rebrand the proposed unified public high school.
Board members will hear McKee’s pitch during their regular meeting at 5 PM on Monday. Those interested in attending the meeting should note that it will take place at the Wausau School Forest Learning Center located at 218735 Hwy KK, Mosinee, WI 54455.
As of Saturday morning, it was unclear if the meeting would be available on community access or YouTube.
