MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to send two minor league prospects to the Philadelphia Phillies for minor league infielder Oliver Dunn.
According to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy, the Brewers are sending infielder Robert Moore and outfielder Hendry Mendez to the Phillies for the 26-year-old Dunn, who is coming off a 21-home run season in Double-A and was the AFL (Arizona Fall League) Breakout Player of the Year.
Moore was the Brewers’ 15th overall prospect and played at Single-A Carolina last season before going to Australia for winter ball and showing signs of promise batting. 294 in 40 games with Brisbane. He also played 123 games last season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, where he hit just .233 and had eight home runs.
Meanwhile, Mendez (20) has fallen down the team’s prospect list after showing promise after being named the 2021 Brewers Complex Player of the Year. He hit just .236 with 3 home runs playing for the Wisconsin Timer Rattlers in 2023.
This trade, as well as the team signing 2nd-ranked prospect Jeferson Quero to the 40-man roster, signals the beginning of the Brewers’ possible move toward young players in 2024. Other top prospects that may make their Brewers debuts next season include third baseman Tyler Black, left-handed pitcher Robert Gasser, and top-ranked prospect in baseball outfielder Jackson Chourio.
