MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – After students alerted the high school principal about a potential threat to the school on social media, the Merrill School District was placed on lockdown for more than an hour on Wednesday afternoon.
Shannon Murray, the superintendent, confirmed the lockdown.
Students alerted the administration of Merrill High School to a threat made on social media by a fellow student just before noon.
Murray stated that the school day was immediately put on hold and that police were notified.
After roughly an hour, the issue was resolved, and all other schools in the district were put on hold as a precaution, with an added police presence.
