MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Malik Beasley scored a career-high 30 points, Damian Lillard finished with 37 points and a career-high 13 assists, and the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Toronto Raptors 128–112 on Wednesday night despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence.
“The situation was right for it,” Lillard stated after the game. “With Giannis not playing I knew I would have more responsibility, I knew I would have to be more aggressive and kind of assert myself from a playmaking and scoring standpoint.” Lillard made 15 of 16 free throws while shooting 9 for 18.
“That’s the Dame we all know,” Milwaukee’s Brook Lopez said. “It was great to see him in a good rhythm, comfortable out there and leading the team.”
After playing in the first ten games of the season, Antetokounmpo sat out due to a strained right calf. In Monday’s victory over Chicago, he finished with 35 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bucks will face off against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday in their second in-season tournament game. Tip-off will be at 6 p.m.
