GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Packers star pass rusher Rashan Gary suffered a shoulder injury during practice on Friday, and as a result, there is a chance that he may not play against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Packers Wire reports that while coach Matt LaFleur said that Gary’s status for Sunday is unknown, the injury is not thought to be a long-term worry. “Unfortunately, there was a little mishap at practice. We’ll see where he’s at on Sunday. We’ll see.”
Gary had to wear shoulder protection throughout his rookie season because of a shoulder injury he suffered while playing at Michigan in 2019. The team has not stated if there is any connection between that previous injury and the injury from practice today.
When the defense faces off against Chargers star quarterback Justin Herbert, Gary could be one of four starters out with an injury designation. In addition to Gary, linebacker Quay Walker and cornerback Jaire Alexander are questionable, while the team has announced that safety Rudy Ford will be out due to a bicep injury.
