WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A new poll released over the weekend showed that a large number of young people favor former President Donald Trump more than they do President Joe Biden in 2024.
The NBC poll found that 46% of participants between the ages of 18 and 34 indicated they would vote for Trump, while only 42% said they would vote for Biden. The poll also found former President Trump would defeat Vice President Biden 46 to 44 percent in a hypothetical general election.
NBC is not the only news outlet to report that Biden is having trouble winning over young voters in the polls; comparable results have been recorded by several public polls, including well-known recent polls from CNN and The New York Times/Siena.
Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates characterized the findings as “a stunner,” adding that “it’s stunning because of the impact the Israel-Hamas war is having on Biden.”
According to the Post Millennial, in a CNN poll conducted at the end of October, former President Trump has a one-point overall advantage of 48 to 47 percent. CNBC and the New York Times also reported that Trump’s approval rating among adults aged 18 to 34 was inside Biden’s error margin.
In contrast, according to Pew Research exit polls from the 2020 election, voters between the ages of 18 and 29 supported President Biden by 59 to 35 percent, while voters between the ages of 30 and 49 supported him by 55 to 43 percent.
