FRIENDSHIP, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A woman is in the hospital after a hunting accident on opening weekend of the gun-deer season according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Officials say last Sunday a 62-year-old hunter in Adams County shot at what he thought was a deer. As it turned out, the animal was actually a dog. And the 47-year-old woman walking that dog was hit in the abdomen.
She was airlifted from the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, in northeast Wisconsin, a man shot himself in the foot while adjusting his rifle sling. He was also taken to the hospital.
