MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers 2025 football recruiting campaign is off to a hot start after landing two major in-state recruits, including one of their top overall defensive targets.
On Tuesday night, the program secured a commitment from 2025 three-star Germantown linebacker Cooper Catalano, who chose Wisconsin over other top schools such as Illinois, Michigan State, and Minnesota.
Catalano is the No. 45 linebacker in the country and the fifth-ranked recruit in Wisconsin, according to 247Sports.
He is projected to play inside linebacker for the Badgers but could move outside at some point. He tallied 138 tackles, 18.0 for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in his junior year.
Meanwhile, the Badgers also landed the top ATH in Wisconsin after Lodi’s Mason Lane announced his commitment to Madison on Wednesday morning. Lane was voted First Team All-State QB, First Team All-Region QB, and the Division 4 Conference Player of the Year after leading Lodi to a perfect 15-0 season and a state championship.
Catalano and Lane are the fourth and fifth 2025 commits for Luke Fickell, which also includes three-star quarterback Landyn Locke (Rockwall, Texas), three-star offensive tackle Michael Roeske (Wautoma, Wis.), and three-star cornerback/safety Remington Moss (Alexandria, Va.).
