MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers, Myles Burkett, announced on Wednesday that he plans to leave Wisconsin and enter the transfer portal.
Burkett was behind Mordecai and Locke as the third-string quarterback for most of this season after choosing to remain at Wisconsin after redshirting for the Badgers last season.
Even though Mordecai’s eligibility will expire after Wisconsin’s bowl game, the Badgers will still have a strong quarterback class in 2024 with former Oklahoma QB Nick Evers on the roster and when four-star freshman Mabrey Mettauer enters the program. Wisconsin might also search the portal for a different veteran quarterback, such as Kansas State’s Will Howard or Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei, during the offseason.
Burkett played high school at Franklin where he led them to a perfect 14-0 record and the Wisconsin Division 1 state title before being named Wisconsin’s AP and Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.
After offensive lineman Dylan Barrett declared his intention to move on earlier on Wednesday, Burkett is now the second player from the Badgers to officially enter the transfer portal.
