MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – No one was hurt after a house fire in the Town of Merrill on Ackerman Road.
In a news release from the Merrill Fire Department, they said the call came in for a reported structure fire just before 10 a.m. Monday. Initial dispatch information reported the fire was in the basement and was beginning to spread to the rest of the home.
When Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies arrived, heavy smoke was reported coming from the roof area.
All occupants were confirmed as evacuated.
The second floor had extensive smoke and fire damage, with moderate damage to the lower level. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
The department said this was the third red bulb for the “Keep the Wreath Green Campaign” since Thanksgiving Day.
