GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Packers have nominated veteran linebacker De’Vondre Campbell for one of the league’s most prestigious awards.
Campbell will compete against a player from every NFL franchise for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award given to the player whose foundation or charity has the largest impact on their community.
“We are honored to nominate De’Vondre for this prestigious award,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy in a statement. “He does so much work with his foundation, the De’Vondre Campbell Family Youth Foundation, to help families in need through football camps, donations and their Adopt A Family program. We are proud to highlight his dedication to the community and his excellence both on and off the field.”
The De’Vondre Campbell Family Youth Foundation was founded in 2019 and empowers at-risk youth and families in need through resource distribution, scholarship, educational advancement, and mentorship-based programming.
According to Fox 11, some of the foundation’s major contributions include dating 200 backpacks and supply kits for underprivileged families, giving a local elementary school in Green Bay $10,000 in teacher supply kits, paper, writing utensils, and classroom equipment, as well as working at food pantries such as Paul’s Pantry and local grocery stores to distribute hundreds of turkeys over the years to those in need for Thanksgiving.
