
Wisconsin Badgers
MINNEAPOLIS, MN and MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Badger women’s hockey team continued to stumble with a 5-3 setback against Minnesota in WCHA play on Friday.
Kirsten Simms scored one goal and one assist in the loss. Maddi Wheeler and Casey O’Brien also scored.
Jane Gervais made 17 saves and was pulled for an extra attacker in the game’s final three minutes.
Minnesota gifted Wisconsin five power plays in the game, but the Badgers managed to score on just one of them. Minnesota went 1/1 with the extra skater.
The Gophers and Badgers will conclude their two-game series this afternoon.
In Madison, it was the Badgers scoring a 6-3 Big Ten win over Penn State.
Carson Bantele led the way with three goals on just four shots, making for his first career hat trick. William Whitelaw added two goals, and Quinn Finley rounded out the scoring with one goal.
Charlie Stramel added two assists.
Kyle McClellan made 25 saves in goal. Nearly half of them came in the 3rd period.
The series concludes tonight at 7:00 with pregame coverage starting at 6:30 on WSAU. Tonight’s game is the last one before a 2.5-week Christmas break that will end with the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee on December 28th.
