MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers have picked up another top pass rusher in the transfer portal.
According to Badgers 247, linebacker John Pius from William & Mary has committed to head coach Luke Fickell and the Badgers after officially visiting Wisconsin.
Pius has been among the top linebackers in FCS for the past two seasons and finished the 2022 and 2023 seasons with 172 tackles, 35.0 for loss, 21.0 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
For the past two seasons, Pius has been selected for the first team all-conference, was named to the FCS All-American first team after the 2023 regular season, and won the CAA Defensive Player of the Year award.
Pius has played in 38 games over the last four seasons, and the Badgers beat out Virginia, Cincinnati, UConn, and other teams for his commitment.
Pius is the third player added by Wisconsin via the transfer portal after the 2023 season and joins long snapper Cayson Pfeiffer from Cincinnati and linebacker Leon Lowery from Syracuse.
