WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Hunter Biden will be held in contempt of Congress proceedings, according to a statement issued by House Republicans on X after he failed to appear for a private deposition on Wednesday morning.
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan said in the statement, “Hunter Biden today defied lawful subpoenas, and we will now initiate contempt of Congress proceedings.”

Hunter Biden made statements in front of the Capitol on Wednesday, saying that his father, President Joe Biden, had no part in his business deals and that he never gave him any money from the deals. The lawmakers disagreed, saying, “Exactly how was Joe Biden involved? Evidence shows Joe Biden met with Hunter’s business associates, and his last name was at the center of the family business strategy.”
The Post Millennial reported that Hunter Biden and his lawyers have fought for a public hearing with Congress despite House regulations restricting access to depositions to “Committee, Committee staff designed by the Chairman or the ranking minority member, an official reporter, the witness, and the witness’ two designated attorneys.”
