WEYAUWEGA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A fourth person has died in connection with a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Waupaca County on Saturday night, and investigators have now confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the incident.
It happened just after 9:00 PM Saturday on Highway 10 east of County Highway X. Sheriff’s officers say said a pickup truck, driven by 47-year-old Scott Farmer of Neenah, was going west in the eastbound lane. It was then that the pickup truck collided head-on with an eastbound SUV.
Three of the passengers in the SUV died at the scene. The fourth person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead late Sunday. Two of the victims were in their 20’s, identified through a GoFundMe account as Daniel and Fabian Gonzalez. The other two were students in the Weyauwega-Fremont School District, identified as Lilian and Daniela Gonzalez.
A GoFundMe account identifies the victims as the four step-children of Pastor Kurt Schilling and the biological children of his wife Paulina Gonzalez-Medina. They serve the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Waupaca.
The two GoFundMe accounts have raised over $65,000 for final expenses in just under a day.
Farmer was also hospitalized. He is facing charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and a 5th or 6th OWI offense. Court action against him is pending.
