WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The planned Red Granite Charter School in Wausau has been awarded a $1.97 million federal grant.
Organizers of the school, which will operate as part of the Wausau School District, say the money will help establish the curriculum, hire staff, and outfit the school with state-of-the-art equipment.
Red Granite Charter will operate under the Public Waldorf philosophy which emphasizes practice, research, observation, and active reflection. It will be one of two Public Waldorf charter schools in the state of Wisconsin when it opens in the fall of 2024.
The school will initially enroll students in grades K through 2nd next year. Enrollment is open to any student regardless if they live in the Wasua School District or not.
Red Granite Charter was one of 14 schools nationwide to receive grant funding from the US Department of Education for the upcoming school year. Parents can learn more about the school’s philosophy and methods by visiting their website or through a series of informational meetings that will be held at elementary schools throughout the Wausau School District in January and February.
