MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers are champions of the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off after a 3-0 victory over Northeastern.
Simon Tassy provided all of the offense with three goals on six shots. Kyle McClellan posted his second consecutive shutout with 28 saves, half of which came in the third period.
Tassy, a Sophomore from Montreal, Quebec, scored once in each period.
Owen Lindmark and Daniel Laatsch each recorded an assist.
It’s the second time that Wisconsin has won the four-team tournament in three years. The Badgers defeated Providence in 2021 to take the inaugural event.
Minnesota-Duluth defeated Air Force to take 3rd place in the tournament.
Big Ten play resumes next weekend with Wisconsin traveling to Notre Dame on Friday and Saturday.
The field for next year’s Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off is still being finalized. The event, organized by the Gazelle Group, is held annually at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee during the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Wisconsin will participate in the tournament each year along with three other schools.
