“Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth.”
Wisconsin Democrats have waited a long time to avenge their legislative losses of the past decade.
Absent of any other virtue, they are indeed patient.
While Wisconsin citizens have reaped the benefits of more than ten years of Republican reforms that have strengthened the state, restored fiscal sanity and economic freedom to longsuffering taxpayers, Democrats were test-marketing their ‘fair maps’ scheme in communities throughout the state in advance of their malevolent plan to take back Wisconsin. A few years ago in Marathon County, they used local leftists masquerading as ‘non-partisan’ board supervisors to peddle their ‘fair maps’ propaganda, narrowly approving a non-binding resolution calling on state government to end “gerrymandering” and enact a “non-partisan method” for redrawing legislative and congressional district lines.
Despite the honest objections of well-informed board supervisors who reminded the body that drawing maps was a function of the state legislature and the local board had more pressing priorities, the agenda-driven leftists on the board persisted, deliberately spinning yet another one of their divisive narratives in the community.
Wherever they lurk, partisan Democrats are expert level at manipulation and masterful at wordsmithing – after all, who could possibly support unfair maps? Despite the snow job in July, Marathon County voters weren’t impressed and lead sponsors of the ‘fair maps’ resolution were voted out in the next election. That was only round one.
At some point thereafter, I noted a flurry of activity from the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, an organization that is chaired by Barack Obama’s former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Obama’s stated goal to fundamentally transform America has continued – and is unrelenting – the NDRC’s comprehensive and national redistricting strategy is to declare legislative and congressional maps ‘unfair’ – and was spearheaded in swing states throughout the U.S., including here in Wisconsin. It is a calculating and strategic marketing campaign and fundraising effort that has proven to be fruitful for the power-hungry left who has been unsuccessful at winning legislative seats the conventional way.
After all, when Democrat legislative policies and their platform – and their candidates are roundly and routinely rejected by the voters, the only recourse is to repeat the mantra that the “maps are unfair” and suggest to the easily persuadable if only the districts could be redrawn Just. One. More. Time. Who knows? They might be able to drum up enough dead voters to take back the legislature. It’s the Chicago way, right?
And what if Obama’s cabal could get the attention of wealthy out of state donors with unlimited funds to influence elections? You know the type – the vacuous pretenders – the script readers and writers in Hollywood who have no vested interest in Wisconsin – or anywhere in flyover country. They can pull off the “you betcha” accent, but they wouldn’t live, work or pay taxes here.
Voila! As we watched the episode unfold last season – in unprecedented fashion – a made-for TV legislator in a basic black robe (with an RBG doily) appeared like magic on the screen– brazenly and shamelessly repeating the ‘fair maps’ talking points, declaring in her ‘non-partisan’ multi-million-dollar Hollywood scripted commercials how she would decide cases before the state’s Supreme Court. It was like watching a preview of Law and Order: Guilty as charged.
Look how easy it was for Janet Protasiewicz to sell her soul.
She made it no secret of her opinion that the maps were “rigged” (her words) indicating that she would go where no Justice (or injustice) has gone before. And her donors loved her for it!
Just like that, the Democrats with a little (actually a lot) of financial help from Hollywood millionaires with no vested interest in Wisconsin, bought themselves a state Supreme Court Justice.
Action! Right on script! That’s a wrap!
Next up: Wisconsin Supreme Court to pick a new legislature.
It’s only fair.
