WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – New allegations out of Fulton County, Georgia, could spell trouble for District County Fani Willis’s racketeering case against former President Trump.
According to the New York Post, one of Trump’s co-defendants, Michael Roman, asserted in the court filing that his seven charges should be dismissed and called for the disqualification of Willis and her team from the case.
Roman’s filing alleges that Nathan Wade filed for divorce “a day after his first contract with Willis commenced” in November 2021, and “sources close to both the special prosecutor and the district attorney” have corroborated that Willis and Wade had an ongoing affair.
The Post further reported that Nathan Wade, a private attorney with an Atlanta-based firm, used some of the nearly $654,000 in legal fees that he’s been paid by the Fulton County DA’s Office for his work on the Trump case to take Willis on vacations to “Napa Valley, California, Florida, and the Caribbean.”
“Mr. Roman… moves the Court for an order disqualifying the district attorney, her office, and the special prosecutor from further prosecuting the instant matter on the grounds that the district attorney and the special prosecutor have been engaged in an improper, clandestine personal relationship during the pendency of this case, which has resulted in the special prosecutor, and, in turn, the district attorney, profiting significantly from this prosecution at the expense of the taxpayers,” the court filing states.
In Willis’ case against them and 17 other co-defendants under Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, Donald Trump, and Roman were both charged with racketeering.
