MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers will be keeping star shortstop Willy Adames for the 2024–2025 season after agreeing to a new deal to avoid arbitration.
According to Robert Murray, the settlement between Adames and the Brewers is worth $12.25 million. He’s coming off his worst season with the Brewers hitting only .217 with 24 home runs.
The Brewers also reached deals with recently acquired first baseman Jake Bauers and relief pitcher Bryce Wilson. However, the team has not been able to make deals with other arbitration-eligible pitchers Corbin Burnes, Devin Williams, and Joel Payamps.
The Athletic’s Jim Bowden reports that the Boston Red Sox have “touched base” with the Milwaukee Brewers regarding a possible trade for Corbin Burnes. The report stated that talks between Milwaukee and Boston have “went nowhere” and that the Red Sox are currently not willing to meet Milwaukee’s asking price.
