WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Although he won’t reveal who it is, former President Donald Trump claims to have already chosen a vice presidential candidate.
According to the Daily Wire, during a live town hall in Iowa on Wednesday night, Trump was with Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, and they asked him about his hunt for a vice president due to speculation about possible candidates that has been circulating in recent weeks.
“I can’t tell you that really; I mean, I know who it’s going to be,” Trump told MacCallum.
“What about any of the people you’ve run against? Would you be open to mending fences with any of them?” MacCallum asked.
“Oh, sure. I will,” Trump responded. “I’ve already started to like Christie better.”
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, and Florida Rep. Byron Donalds have been some of the names reported to be in consideration for the position.
A Trump campaign spokeswoman told NBC that “nothing is finalized” in terms of the vice president’s pick.
“He’ll announce his final decision when he’s ready,” the official stated.
According to TIPP Insights, Trump leads President Biden by only one point nationally and by three points when Robert Kennedy Jr. is in the race. Noble Predictive Data has the former President slightly further ahead nationally, with a four-point lead over Biden without Kennedy Jr. and a five-point lead with RFK Jr. on the ballot.
