GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers could be without one of their top pass rushers for the rest of the season following what’s feared to be a torn ACL for linebacker Kingsley Enagbare.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the veteran pass rusher suffered the injury during Sunday’s playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys and was seen on crutches in the locker room after the game.
Head coach Matt LaFleur spoke about Enagbare’s injury, saying, “My heart hurts right now for J.J.,” LaFleur said, using Enagbare’s nickname. “It doesn’t look good for him. So it’s kind of bittersweet any time you have a guy go out like that. It’s a tough thing to deal with, and just with him in the locker room, a lot of guys hurt for him right now.”
The Packers now look toward young talent such as first-round pick Lukas Van Ness and undrafted rookie Brenton Cox Jr. to step into a larger backup outside linebacker role. Van Ness is coming off a strong game against the Cowboys, where he recorded three tackles and a sack, while Cox Jr. has played only four total defensive snaps this season.
