WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of shooting at a Wausau home during an argument last July has been scheduled for a three-day trial in August.
Nicholas Multani was in court on Thursday and was scheduled for trial from August 27th through the 29th.
Officers say there was an argument outside the home that ended when someone pulled a gun and fired shots toward the building. No one was injured in the incident, but officers did find evidence of a shooting and immediately named Multani as a person of interest.
Multani faces counts of recklessly endangering safety and possession of a firearm by both a convicted felon and a person under the age of 18. He was 17 at the time of the shooting incident but turned 18 a few weeks later. Because of the nature of the charges he would have been in adult court either way.
He has yet to enter a plea to the charges. That was initially scheduled in December but court records show that the hearing was adjourned without a plea after his attorney requested to withdraw from the case. That request was denied.
His arraignment is now scheduled for February 28th, which is when he will enter a plea.
After the incident, Multani disappeared for nearly two months. He was captured in Racine on September 15th when officers performed a well-being check on two people who were passed out in a vehicle. One of them was Multani, who was arrested on an outstanding warrant along with charges of obstructing an officer, which are making their way through the Racine County court system.
