APPLETON, WI (WSAU) – An officer fired their weapon early on Tuesday morning, according to Appleton police, injuring a suspect.
A firearms complaint reportedly sent police to the Maritime Tavern on W. Wisconsin Ave. shortly after 1:30 in the morning.
The suspect was injured and transported to a nearby hospital after an officer discharged his firearm and officials did not provide an update on the condition of the suspect.
There were no injuries to the officer and what prompted the cop to fire his weapon is still currently unknown.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice-Department of Criminal Investigation has taken up the investigation due to state law requiring an outside entity to investigate officer-involved shootings.
