WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man who is on the state’s sex offender registry is now accused of new child sex crimes.
Prosecutors say Daniel Shae Geraty sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl by kissing her and putting his hands down her pants on multiple occasions. He’s also accused of showering with the girl, according to her father.
The girl was interviewed by advocates at the Child Advocacy Center, leading to charges that were filed in Marathon County Court on Monday. That list includes counts of sexual contact or intercourse with someone under the age of 13 and repeated sexual assault of the same child.
Charges carry modifiers because Geraty was on the sex offender registry. Previous convictions against him date back to 2014 for a deferred sentence on second-degree child sexual assault charges. When Geraty didn’t comply with the terms of the deferral, he was charged with third-degree sexual assault and placed on probation. He was also required to register as a sex offender until 2034.
He’s now facing two Class B felony counts, which could land him in prison for up to 120 years. The 28-year-old is free on a $2,500 cash bond and will return to court for a clerical appearance on January 31st.
