WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – The Biden Administration appears to be gearing up for a possible strike in the Middle East following an Iranian proxy force attack that left three U.S. service members deceased.
According to the Post Millennial, the White House told Congress back on December 7th that “a small number of the United States military personnel are deployed to Yemen to conduct operations against al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula and ISIS.”
The outlet notes that the statement would directly contradict another made by Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, told reporters earlier this month that he is “not aware of any US forces on the ground” in the region.
This report comes as the Pentagon confirmed on Monday afternoon that Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders, Sergeant William Jerome Rivers, and Specialist Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, all from Georgia, were killed after an Iranian proxy drone entered U.S. airspace after the personnel mistakenly thought it was a U.S. drone returning to base.
White Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre spoke to MSNBC about the names being released and received heavy criticism after she said the fallen troops had died “fighting on behalf of this administration” instead of for the United States. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley along with other lawmakers from both sides of the aisle released statements on the matter calling her comments “disrespectful.”
The New York Post reports that President Biden vowed on Sunday evening that America “shall respond” to the attack and followed up on Monday night that he will authorize U.S military action in the Middle East as early as the next 24 hours.
