GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Packers are set to add a fourth candidate to their defensive coordinator search on Tuesday, as the team is reportedly set to interview Baltimore Ravens defensive back coach Dennard Wilson for the position.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the interview, as Wilson remains a top candidate throughout the league, having also scheduled interviews with the Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Giants.
Wilson has been a coach in the league since 2012 and has been credited with the development of several star players over the years, such as Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, Seahawks safety Jamal Adams, Eagles cornerbacks Darius Slay and James Bradbury, and Jets safety Marcus Maye.
During the 2023 season, the Ravens had a league-high 18 interceptions and were first in points allowed and passer rating allowed. The Packers are expected to retool their secondary this offseason, making Wilson a possible perfect fit for the young franchise that may invest in another first-round safety or cornerback.
The Packers are also scheduled to interview Ravens Linebackers coach Zach Orr, 31, for the Defensive Coordinator position who is credited with turning linebackers Patrick Queen and Roquan Smith into Pro Bowl-caliber players. The Ravens linebacker unit also was tough to score on in 2023 under Orr allowing only 6 rushing touchdowns.
Other candidates the Packers are continuing to consider for the position include Broncos Defensive Coach Christian Parker, Cowboys Defensive Line Coach Aden Durde, Bills Linebackers Coach Bobby Babich, and former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley.
