MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A Marshfield man is facing federal charges after investigators say they found two 9 MM handguns and ammo in his home.
Jaison L. Coleman is accused of having the weapons in his home last April. If he’s found guilty he could serve up to ten years in a federal prison.
Court records show the 42-year-old was found guilty in 2011 of a felony charge of battery by prisoners and substantial battery. He served a total of six years in prison for those counts.
He was also found guilty of misdemeanor battery as part of a plea deal in two separate cases from 2020. In one of those incidents, a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm was dismissed.
Coleman is also facing a two-day trial later this month for domestic abuse, operating a firearm while intoxicated, and various drug-related offenses. It’s unclear how the new federal charges will impact that schedule.
Further court action on the federal charges is pending.
