The sculptors had been scheduled to work on Saturday. Members of the team will still be in town later this month for a gallery walk and book signing.
It’s the latest winter event to be altered or canceled due to a lack of winter-like conditions. Last month Wausau Events canceled some elements of their annual Winterfest including sled dog demonstrations and their snow sculpting event, though indoor aspects of Winterfest went on as planned.
USA Hockey announced the cancelation of this year’s national pond hockey championships in Eagle River due to unsafe ice conditions as well. Those registered for the event have the option to roll their fee over to next year’s tournament or recieve a full refund.
Earlier this week the City of Stevens Point announced that all outdoor ice skating rinks are closed along with sledding and tobbagin runs at Iverson Park. Those closures will be re-evaluated if or when conditions improve.
