MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The latest AP men’s college basketball rankings are out, and the Badgers saw themselves fall outside of the top 10 following back-to-back losses, while Marquette now sits only a couple of spots out of the top five.
The formally ranked No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers fell to No. 11 after they dropped their second consecutive game on a Sunday after a 75-69 loss to the No. 2 Purdue Boilermakers. The loss came in large part due to the Badgers shooting just 3-19 from three and star transfer A.J. Storr shooting only 4-15 from the field.
Former top recruit Tyler Wahl had one of his best games of the season, scoring 20 points on 10-16 shooting as well as recording seven rebounds and five assists. Wahl had struggled in recent games, failing to score more than ten points in three out of the team’s last four games.
Meanwhile, Marquette rose two spots from nine to seven in the latest rankings after winning their sixth straight game in a 91-57 victory over Georgetown. Guard Kai Jones dominated the Hoyas’ defense, scoring 31 points, shooting 12-15 from the field, and 7-9 from three-point range. Jones’ performance gave the Golden Eagles their second straight game with a 30-point game after point guard Tyler Kolek scored 32 points in their victory over Villanova last week.
