MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — Fire crews were called to the Charles Apartments on W 2nd Street in Marshfield for a report of smoke coming from the attic on Monday.
The call came in at about 3:30 PM for a report of white smoke coming from the attic vent. Firefighters entered the attic to find a smokey haze from an “isolated area of cellulose insulation.”
Crews were able to extinguish the fire by taking down a part of the ceiling from the unit below. No flams were visible during the response, crews described the fire as “smodering.”
All residents were allowed to return to their units once the scene was clear except for those in apartment 314, the only unit that sustained damage.
No structural damage to the building was reported.
