NEKOOSA, WI (WSAU) — Fire crews from multiple Wood County departments were called to a blaze at Domtar Paper in Nekoosa on Wednesday evening.
Crews were called at about 6:30 for a report of a small fire coming from the building. The flames were quickly contained, and no one was injured in the incident.
It’s unclear what caused the fire. Crews noted that there seemed to be wood chips stuck in one of the mill’s stacks.
Responding agencies included Wisconsin Rapids, Grand Rapids, Port Edwards, and Rome. The fire remains under investigation.
