WITTENBERG, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A 76-year-old man has died after a violent crash in Marathon County on Friday afternoon.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the car was traveling east on County Highway C earlier this afternoon when it left the road and collided with a large boulder in the ditch.
The vehicle caught fire after the incident, and the driver was pulled from the wreck by passing drivers, who then attempted lifesaving measures.
Despite the efforts of the first responders, he was eventually declared dead. The crash investigation is being handled by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
