MADISON, WI and BEMIDJI, MN (WSAU) — After falling into a 2-0 hole after one period the Badger men’s hockey team ripped off four unanswered goals for a 4-2 win over Notre Dame in Big Ten play.
David Silye provided two goals, the first came in the closing seconds of the second period and another less than 90 seconds into the third. Christian Fitzgerald and Carson Bantle also scored for Wisconsin.
Kyle McClellan recovered from a shaky first period to make 21 saves including 12 in the second.
Wisconsin has now clinched the season series with the Irish after sweeping their first meeting in South Bend. They’ll go for the sweep later today in Madison. Pregame coverage on WSAU will begin at 6:30, Face-off is at 7:00 PM.
In Bemidji, the Badger women jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on Bemidji State and never looked back en route to a 10-0 thrashing of the Beavers. Laila Edwards scored three goals and one assist. Kristen Simms also netted a hat trick.
Caroline Harvey and Britta Curl each recorded one goal and two assists.
Jane Gervais made 16 saves to preserve the shutout.
Wisconsin has outscored Bemidji 22-1 in their first three meetings. They’ll play game four of their season series later today in Bemidji, with the Badgers going for the season sweep.
