GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — There will be a college football game at Lambeau Field this year.
Northwestern University AD Derrick Gragg has told a group of boosters that the Wildcats will play one of their scheduled home games at the home of the Packers during the upcoming season.
The announcement was made during a fundraiser in New York City. Gragg did not disclose which of the Wildcat’s seven home games would be played at the historic venue.
Northwetern’s Ryan Field has been demolished as part of a multi-million dollar project to build a new stadium in its place. The school has yet to announce where they will play home games for the upcoming season. Some have speculated that the team could play at Wrigley Field, Soldier Field, or SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview- a soccer-specific venue.
Northwestern’s home slate includes three non-conference games and Big Ten contests against Wisconsin, Ohio State, Illinois, and Indiana.
While the game against the Badgers seems like the natural choice, neither UW nor the Packers have commented on the speculation.
Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy spent 4.5 years as Director of Athletics at Northwestern.
