WAUPACA, WI (WSAU) — A man accused of killing four siblings in a drunk driving crash has entered a not guilty plea to six felony counts including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
Court records show Scott Farmer entered the plea on Friday morning. He also waived his right to a preliminary hearing of the charges.
Farmer is accused of driving drunk last December when he struck a vehicle carrying four siblings, identified as Daniel, Fabian, Lilian, and Daniela Gonzalez. Three of the siblings died at the scene, the fourth died at a hospital the next day.
Officers say he was speeding at the time of the crash and also driving with a revoked license due to prior OWI convictions.
Court proceedings for the 47-year-old were delayed earlier this year while a public defender was assigned to the case.
Farmer faces up to 160 years in prison for the homicide charges alone. Further court proceedings are scheduled for March 12th, which will be a status conference. Farmer is not required to attend.
