MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers and Marquette Golden Eagles are continuing to trend in different directions as the latest AP college poll is released.
According to the poll, Marquette moved up two spots to number five in the country following their dominant victories over Xavier and DePaul. Marquette has won 10 out of their last 12 games and has been led in scoring by guard Kam Jones, who is averaging 15.8 points per game on the season and is coming off a 34-point performance against Xavier.
Jones has scored 30+ points in three of the team’s last six games, which has helped the team toward some impressive wins, while star guard Tyler Kolek has struggled to score consistently with just 21 points total in the team’s last three games.
Meanwhile, the Badgers will remain out of the top 25 for their second straight week, despite a tight 74-70 win over Maryland last week. Wisconsin’s struggles continue to highlight guard A.J. Storr’s inability to score consistently after scoring 20+ points just three times in the team’s seven games in February.
Wisconsin will look to make it two wins in a row as they travel to Indiana to face the Hoosiers on Tuesday night on WSAU, and Marquette will try to make it three wins in a row when they host the Providence Fryers on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on FS1.
