GREEN BAY – (WSAU) – With the NFL Scouting Combine set to begin today, NFL draft experts are weighing in on who the Packers should select 25th overall.
According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jerimiah, the Packers should select Iowa CB/S Cooper DeJean, saying, “DeJean just feels like a Packers player. He could play any position in the secondary. The speed and athleticism are legit, as we will see at the NFL Scouting Combine.”
DeJean was one of the top defensive backs in college football last season, earning unanimous consensus All-American honors along with first-team All-Big Ten honors. He recorded 41 tackles (26 solo, 15 assists), including two tackles for a loss, two interceptions, and five pass break-ups while starting at cornerback in the first 10 games, before suffering a season-ending injury in practice. DeJean also returned 21 punts for 241 yards (11.5 yards per return avg.) with one touchdown and a long return of 70 yards on the season.
Meanwhile, CBS Sports Kyle Stackpole’s newly released two-round mock draft has the Packers selecting Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins 25th overall, BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia 41st overall, and Kansas edge rusher Austin Booker 58th overall.
Wiggins is currently the 21st overall ranked prospect on the CBS Sports Big Board due to his length and ability to use his vision and awareness in zone coverage. He was a first-team All-ACC selection last season and in 2022. Opponents facing Wiggins went just 18-of-41 passing for merely 176 yards with one touchdown and had two interceptions in 2023.
Other popular names being mocked to Green Bay at 25 include Washington offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold, and Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan.
