WESTON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Marshfield Clinic Health System will close its Weston urgent care center next week.
WAOW TV reports that the center will close effective March 8th and patients seeking urgent care services will be referred to the Wausau location at 2727 Plaza Drive.
A statement obtained by WAOW TV notes that Marshfield Clinic is working to open a walk-in clinic at the Weston location to complement the emergency room that’s open year-round at the site:
While urgent care services will no longer be available at Marshfield Medical Center-Weston, the facility will continue to offer emergency services 24/7, 365 days each year. Marshfield Medical Center-Weston is working to open a walk-in clinic for adults, similar to its pediatrics walk-in service that is available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Another option is to get care from the comfort of your home with Care My Way. You can speak to a provider over the phone or virtual visit.
These changes allow the Health System to consolidate urgent care staff and resources, which will lead to more efficiency in how care is delivered. It will also move the Health System closer to staffing models that have become standard across the country for delivering care to patients with mild-to-moderate illness or injury.

The news comes as the Health System is experiencing some financial difficulty. Late last year they announced pay cuts for some high-level leadership and a pause on the employer match to all retirement accounts. Some behind-the-scenes employees were also furloughed back in January.
