GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — The Green Bay Packers made alot of moves on Monday but none will annoy Packer fans more than the plan to release popular running back Aaron Jones.
The Packers had signed free agent back Josh Jacobs earlier in the day and reportedly had asked Jones to restructure his contract which would have included a large pay cut.
Drew Rosenhaus, Jones’ agent, said the back would take his chances in free agency. Jones turns 29 in December and came back from a torn MCL to play well late in the season and playoffs.
By releasing him the Packers will gain about $5.2 million in cap space.
