WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Rothschild-based Schuette Metals and the Wausau School District have announced a $38,000 donation to help purchase a Fanuc Robot for East High School.
“Schuette Metals has been a tremendous business and education partner in helping us develop our students with the competitive advantage they need for success in the future,” said Jon Winter, Wausau School District Career and Technical Education Coordinator.
A Fanuc Robot is considered Insudstry 4.0 technology and is similar to other robots used by local manufacturing companies, including Schuette, Inc. President John Peterson noted that the device will help prepare students for careers in manufacturing. “Students operating robots in their high school classes that are the same as in the local manufacturing companies allows us to help grow their knowledge and better prepare them for their future careers.”
Peterson graduated from Wausau West so he also felt called to support his local school district with the gift.
Students who complete the robotics program through the Wausau School District can earn dual credits through Northcentral Technical College’s advanced manufacturing program.
