PLOVER, WI (WSAU) – Plover’s Woyak Sports Complex will continue to receive some facelifts in 2024 after a large donation was made to Plover Youth Athletics.
According to Board Executive Chris Brooks, the donation from McCain Foods is worth $100,000 and will go toward improving all of the batting cages around the park, which will be changed from dirt to concrete, and T&T Field will also be receiving new dugouts after 50 years of use.
“We put this together and started fundraising and developing the process over the last year, and we’ve currently funded it; as of today, we’ve hit $900,000 out of a $1.3 million goal, which includes some financial backing from the Village of Plover to ensure the project continues to move forward,” Brooks stated.
Around 1,400 kids use the complex every year for a variety of sports activities, which include two WIAA State playoff games, two-state fastpitch games, and USA softball, which brings thousands of families each year to the Plover area.
