MADISON, WI (WSAU) – A former Badgers coach has resigned from the University of Michigan following a DUI arrest over the weekend.
The Ann Arbor police department stated that Scruggs was detained after being pulled over on Saturday morning at about three in the morning. After Scruggs was checked at the station, two different tests revealed that his blood alcohol content was 0.16 and 0.17.
After the arrest, Michigan suspended Scruggs, and sources close to the matter said he may have been permitted to return to the team, but he instead opted to proceed with his departure, according to a report from Josh Henschke of Rivals.
Scruggs joined Michigan after serving as the defensive line coach for the Badgers in 2023.
