STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Stevens Point man accused of stabbing another man at the Portage County Library has pled not guilty to charges of attempted homicide and aggravated battery.
Frank Jackson is accused of stabbing a 71-year-old man, who had just loaned him money earlier in the day. Investigators say Jackson returned to the man looking for another loan but was denied.
He became confrontational and was kicked out of the library but returned sometime later. Another confrontation ensued. That’s when Jackson is said to have stabbed the victim with a four-inch kitchen knife.
The victim suffered a punctured lung but survived. He was not present for Wednesday’s court proceedings.

The 29-year-old faces a mandatory life sentence for the attempted homicide charge alone. Two of the charges also carry an elderly abuse modifier, which could increase his prison time for those counts. He is being held on a $1 million cash bond with several conditions including a no-contact order with the victim and the Portage County Library.
Jackson returns to court on April 22nd for a pretrial conference.
