WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A motion hearing will be held on Thursday for a Wausau man accused of killing an acquaintance in the spring of 2022.
Michael Turner will appear in court at 10:30 AM on Thursday, three weeks before he is scheduled to stand trial for one count of intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon. Officers say the 45-year-old shot the man as he was sitting in a vehicle near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Thomas Street in Wausau.
The victim was able to go to a nearby business for help and was hospitalized. He died about two weeks later but was able to identify Turner as the suspect after he was hospitalized.

Turner fled shortly after the shooting but was arrested without incident in Marquette County. He was initially charged with attempted homicide but the charges were amended after the victim died.
Unless a plea deal is reached, the trial is scheduled to run from April 15th to the 26th. Turner faces a mandatory life sentence for the homicide count alone.
