WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – State of Affairs episode eight is now available, featuring Republican Sauk County Chair and 40th Assembly District candidate Jerry Helmer joining the program to discuss his campaign and issues facing the state.
While discussing his top platform issues, Helmer says focusing on getting the humanitarian crisis occurring at the U.S. southern border under control is an issue he hears a lot about but the economy is a close second saying, “The number one issue I’m getting is immigration and the economy is number two. Groceries are up 23% and three years ago the average gas price was $1.95 now it’s $3.69 in my little town and people can hardly afford to put gas in their vehicles to go to work and back and the Biden administration claims that inflation is going down which it is but it’s already adding up.”
Join us for the full conversation and follow the show on Spotify to see what Helmer thinks of Gov. Evers’s decisions when it comes to vetoing tax credit bills, the ongoing debate on allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports, and what he hopes former President Trump will discuss when he visits Green Bay next week.
