Green Bay Packers
GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – April is here, and the 2024 NFL Draft is only three weeks away. Draft experts from across the country continue to be torn on who Green Bay will select 25th overall, but one player has begun to stand out as a clear choice.
According to Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department, which released their latest mock draft on Monday morning, the Packers should select Iowa’s Cooper DeJean at 25th overall, which would be the second straight year Green Bay has selected a player out of Iowa in the first round after taking pass rusher Lukas Van Ness in 2023.
“As a defender, DeJean has shown the twitch and ball skills necessary to play cornerback at the next level. With him being a Midwest guy, he’ll fit right into the Packers culture while the team lands a long-term solution at defensive back,” B/R stated.
Other mock drafts that have Green Bay taking DeJean include longtime mock draft site Walter Football, NBC Sports, and Sports Illustrated, despite most Packer fans wanting the team to go in a different direction, with Duke IOL Graham Barton being the most picked player for Green Bay on Pro Football Focus’s Draft Simulator.
According to Pro Football Focus’ most recent mock draft, Barton would make a great fit in Green Bay, saying, “The Packers’ roster doesn’t have many holes outside of the interior offensive line. Barton was a tackle in college but is being projected as a guard in the NFL, and he could slot into Green Bay’s right guard spot.”
Other notable players to be projected to Green Bay at 25th overall from outlets such as CBS Sports and NFL.com include Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims, Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins, Washington offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr., and Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton.
